Victoria Hill Therapies Acupuncture & Massage

What needles do you use?

All needles are single use, sterile needles that are disposed of after each session.

What will happen in my appointment?

When you arrive for a treatment, I will show you into the treatment room and we will have an informal chat about your health and well-being to see how you are and what you are aiming to get from treatment. This allows me to understand how best to treat you and to give you a tailored and unique experience. Part of Chinese Medicine diagnosis is feeling your pulses and looking at your tongue, both of which influence how you are treated. Once I have as much information as I need I will treat you. I tailor each treatment and techniques used to each individual client, and aim to support and work with you to give you the best treatment possible.

After your treatment

After a treatment, I will give you a glass of water and suggest any specific advice that may help your situation. It is always best to not be doing anything too strenuous or stressful and you will always need to drink plenty of water after a treatment, particularly if any massage work has been done. Eating lightly before and after treatment has also been shown to help the body to heal, as it is not so preoccupied with digesting your food.

If you ever have any questions after a treatment, about how you feel or what you should do, please don't hesitate to call me on 07952 002 803.

When should I not have a treatment?

Victoria believes that treatment can and should take place at all times and that there is always something that can be done to help. If you are unsure about whether you should come for a treatment or feel too unwell to have one please call me to discuss whether treatment is appropriate or to rearrange.

What does acupuncture feel like?

Everyone experiences acupuncture differently. When needles are inserted and connect with the Qi you will feel a sensation that differs for everyone, descriptions Victoria has heard include: an electric current, a buzzy feeling, a dull ache, a strong pulling and my favourite - it's like a frog is jumping up my leg! Acupuncture should never cause real pain and needles will be adjusted according to you and your body's reaction.

What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you want. Loose comfortable clothing is recommended but gowns and blankets will be provided if and when clothes need to be removed to allow treatment to take place.

What oils do you use?

If I am using oil I tend to use Sweet Almond Oil, which is an excellent oil for all skin types, rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants. However if you prefer, or are allergic then I can use Grapeseed or Coconut Oil. I may also use Tiger Balm and essential oils when appropriate.

If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so 24 hours beforehand, otherwise it is normal practice to charge. If you need to rearrange then there is no charge. Missed appointments will also be charged.
